This is a position that will hold 2 titles: Surgical Buyer in the Materials Management department and the HR Assistant in the Human Resources Department. Time will be split between the two departments.
Surgical Buyer:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for all aspects of ordering, receiving, delivering and stock of supplies in the Surgery Department.

HUMAN RESOURCE ASSISTANT
POSITION SUMMARY:
Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all personnel. Ensures all documentation is completed when new employees are hired. Assist employees with benefits, maintain employee data base and manages employee files.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
2. Updates and maintains employee files regarding the tracking of raises and assist Payroll Coordinator with benefit deductions or additions in company payroll system.
3. Assists employees if filing health, dental, life and other related and deferred benefit claims.
4. Ability to communicate appropriately with fellow employees.
5. Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment
6. Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects.
7. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement, including compliance with State and Federal regulations
8. Ability to solve problems independently or as part of a team
9. Ability to demonstrate interpersonal relationship skills
10. Ability to demonstrate excellence in conflict resolution, process evaluation and improvement
11. Ability to be flexible and willingness to work other areas, depending on staffing, and patient acuity requirements
12. Assures that all reports and other documentation required are completed in a timely manner.
13. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in completing work.
14. Pre-screens and coordinates the hiring process relative to staff personnel and assists with pre-screening and pre-hire processes for positions that require licensure, registration, certification, or a degree.
15. During the initial hiring process, assists new employees with the new-hire documents and answers questions regarding basic policies and employee benefits.
16. Works closely with department managers/directors to provide appropriate applicants, both internal and external, for consideration in filling vacancies. Includes tracking and maintaining personnel requisitions, posting job openings and assisting incumbents with in-house transfer requests.
17. Tracks and maintains job applications. Screens applications to identify best possible candidates for posted positions and works with managers/directors to schedule interviews with qualified applicants.
18. Coordinates with Administration and departments for employee recognition events.
19. Set up, maintain, and update employee files, assuming responsibility of confidentiality of records.
20. Performs other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Director.

Experience/training in Human Resources field in order to be able to utilize critical thinking skills and communicate effectively with both internal and external candidates.
B. Experience:
One year experience in hiring processes will provide necessary familiarity with the legal issues of employment practices and must have good computer skills.

None required.
D. Continuing Health and Education:
Comply with standards as set forth by state and federal agencies, and hospital requirements including annual TB skin test and educational in-services.
E. Other:
Must possess excellent human relations skills so that supervisors, fellow employees, and other customers, both internal and external, are served in a friendly, helpful manner.
