Maine College of Art & Design (MECA&D) seeks an experienced administrative professional to
serve as Executive Assistant to the President. This professional and highly confidential position, reporting directly to the President, will
provide administrative support for the Executive Office with responsibility for the following: day-to-day administration of the
President’s initiatives, responsibilities, and schedule; managing written communications; and serving as the President’s liaison with
a variety of internal and external constituencies. This position also assists with internal and external marketing and communications, as
well as with administrative functions to support institutional advancement and partnerships. Maine College of Art & Design recognizes

Position Details
Serve as
primary liaison for the President’s Office, ensuring seamless coordination of the President’s initiatives and responsibilities;
Manage the President’s strategic communications, including drafting and/or proofreading written communications such as emails,
letters, remarks, presentations, reports, and marketing collateral; sending college-wide emails on behalf of the President; and representing
the President in communication with internal and external stakeholders;
Support content development for internal and
external communications, including press releases, news stories, and website updates;
Support the President’s
advancement and fundraising by maintaining relationships and documenting updates in the constituent management database;
Work closely with the Advancement team to support the institution’s capital campaign;
Coordinate meeting agendas
for the President’s External Relations and Operations Working Group meetings and ensure that meeting notes are recorded and
distributed as appropriate and that agreements and task assignments are completed;
Manage President’s calendar and
daily schedule, as well as travel arrangements as needed;
Manage access to and meetings with the President by prioritizing
the President’s schedule, identifying the objectives of a meeting, and ensuring that the President is fully prepared in advance;
Participate in meetings with the President to document next steps and ensure appropriate and responsive follow-up and
accountability;
Assist in special meetings and events planning and implementation, occasionally requiring time outside of
regular working hours;
Perform, direct, or report on special studies, projects, and assignments, as requested by the
President;
Assist with the administration of Board of Trustees operations and provide support to the Executive Operations
Director as needed;
Collaborate with and provide backup support for the Executive Assistant to the Executive Vice
President.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Abilities
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and strong academic background or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
3+ years of related work experience preferred;
Experience in a higher education, communications, non-profit,
or corporate organization with comparable complexity preferred;
Practiced writing skills using the ability to collaborate
and write for a variety of audiences required;
Deft computer skills demonstrating comfort with standard office software
packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google, etc.).

The Institution Maine College of Art & Design is an independent college of art and design located in the center
of the thriving arts district of Portland, Maine. Established in 1882, the College currently enrolls approximately 550 students, the
majority of whom are in the undergraduate program. About 1,000 students take classes through MECA&Dʼs Continuing Studies Program
annually. MECA&Dʼs Joanne Waxman Library is an important resource of art and design oriented books and periodicals for the region. The
Institute of Contemporary Art at MECA&D is a vibrant site for the exhibition of contemporary art. MECA&D is characterized by its
intimate learning community, its interdisciplinary nature and the breadth of its programs. It confers the degrees of Bachelor of Fine Arts
in eleven majors, Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art, Master of Arts in Teaching, and the Salt Graduate Certificate in Documentary Studies.

Compensation & Benefits
This is a
full-time, year-round position. Compensation ranges from $50,000 to $60,000, based on experience. A comprehensive benefits package is
offered, including health, dental, vacation, sick time, and retirement benefits.
Paid time off includes 4 weeks of vacation, 12 sick
days, 5 days of Maine Earned Paid Leave, 12 holidays, and more.
