Responsibilities
It is an exciting time at Mayo Clinic, as we are building the most trusted generative AI and LLM-based solutions to empower our staff, improve our practice and transform healthcare. To accelerate our generative AI strategy, we are forming a cross functional team of technical experts. This team will be responsible for:
Supporting the Generative AI Program’s Request for Application (RFA) Process, its entrants and winners
Providing temporary tiger-team efforts to accelerate key initiatives
Expanding the organization’s understanding of LLM technology through:
Development of best practices, knowledge assets, and code examples to accelerate the efforts of others
Execution of technical proofs of concept and exploration
Providing consultations, presentations, and sharing of knowledge across Mayo Clinic to technical and non-technical audiences
Providing guidance across the Generative AI program workstreams as technical experts
Responsible for managing all aspects of a significant enterprise wide program consisting of multiple inter-related projects that are of a strategic priority requiring Boards of Governors and Trustees approval. Leverages experience gained through managing complex projects to lead Program Governance, Strategic Alignment, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Management and Life Cycle Management. Leads and coordinates common program activities, resolves resource constraints, communicates and reports to stakeholders, proactively manages risks, aligns program efforts with strategic direction, resolves scope/cost/schedule/quality and risk impacts, and tailors processes to manage within the organizational environment.
Will require direct and/or indirect supervision and evaluation of staff, contractor/vendor resources, and other internal or external resources. Supports and guides project managers and teams to deliver the intended results.
Program Managers should have demonstrated success in leading large, complex initiatives. The role requires skill in effective decision making and consensus management, coupled with strong understanding of managing programs, projects, business processes, finances, resources, risks, changes, and stakeholders. Candidates should be experienced in managing large teams, staff development, team building, coaching, and consulting. Program Managers must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, plus high levels of emotional intelligence, self-motivation, commitment, strategic insight, and organization. They should also have a clear knowledge and understanding of current practice, education, research, and administration directions and challenges.
The use and application of Agile methodologies is important to this role. Many of the items important to an Agile process are not unique to Agile. This individual may be responsible for monitoring scrum processes and scrum meetings, and/or coordinating across multiple teams that may include Agile efforts. They may work to increase efficiency, motivate the team(s), and advocate for changes that will ensure quality and timeliness. Leading and coordinating across project teams may include the following not already specified above:
• Guiding teams on Agile practices and values to implement critical projects
• Assessing maturity of the teams and organization and coaching teams to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable
• Removing impediments and blockers or guiding teams to do so; escalating to management when appropriate
• Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved
• Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
• Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
• Supporting and educating the Product Owner(s), especially on creating the product backlog and ongoing backlog refinement, while maintaining strategic program alignment
Occasional travel (approximately twice a quarter) required; additional travel may be necessary as dictated by business needs.

Qualifications
Master’s degree with 15 years’ experience in Project and Program Management. Education preference: Program/Project Management and/or Business Administration. Experience preference: Committee and consensus-managed, physician-led organization, and operations management.
Candidates should also include any certifications they have, which may include but are not necessarily limited to Certified Product Management, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner, and/or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP).
Active (unexpired) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is required. Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is preferred and required within 3 years of hire date.

$124,218 – $186,368/ year. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
