This position is an entry-level training position for becoming an HME Specialist II. Assists patients with product selection and training of home medical equipment in accordance with provider prescriptions. Gathers registration and insurance information accurately and efficiently, and processes information for payment according to payer requirements. Handles private patient information in a compliant and confidential manner. Assists with maintaining store inventory including inventory cycle counts and perpetual inventory. Performs duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to age and ability considerations of the patient. May initially provide patient CPAP, compression and/or mastectomy fitting and training services on a minimal basis. May be assigned to working on the medical supply store floor or in a call center environment. High school diploma or equivalent. Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understand English. Able to learn technical tasks. Able to follow written and verbal directions. Able to apply math and calculator skills. Able to efficiently use computer software applications with keyboarding experience. One year customer service or patient care experience within the last five years. Exceptional customer service skills. Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment, able to multi-task and make decisions affecting patient care. High level of professionalism. High level of attentional to detail. Physical and mental stamina to be able to withstand what can often be a fast-paced, stressful environment; potentially on feet 90-100% of the time. Must be able to tolerate repetitive hand motion. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Prior experience in the home medical equipment field. Medical equipment sales or medical billing experience. Call center experience. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and/or private insurance billing. Proven organizational and problem solving skills. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.
For locations requiring driving a company vehicle, must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
