International Logistics / Export Professional
POSITION PURPOSE / SKILLS:
The International Logistics / Export Professional will be responsible for international customer orders from order placement to completion acting as the liaison with all parties to ensure a smooth and complete transaction. The employee will produce accurate export documentation; oversee all aspects of the container shipment (from assisting customers/vendors with booking the ocean to the vessel arrival at the port). Gain knowledge and expertise with each customers requirements and country requirements and implement change to streamline the process. The position will have strong interpersonal communication and negotiating skills are necessary. Must be a service-oriented individual possessing a high degree of attention to detail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
International and OTR Logistics:
Manage vendor / logistic partner relationships
Routes freight to establish structure, rates, transit, and customer needs. Schedules shipments via, air, rail, truck, or ocean to ensure compliance with interstate and federal traffic laws and regulations for freight forwarding and customs / border brokerage.
Ensure data integrity related to tariff classification, country of origin and value
Complete transportation documentation and forward to customers, border brokers and/or freight forwarders timely
Responsible and accountable for providing exceptional customer service as the logistics customer’s point of contact.
Analyze, evaluate, and determine opportunities and offer solutions to improve on our business goals.
Maintain relationships with Border Brokers, OTR Brokers, Customers, Vendors and Freight Forwarders
Stay current on Customs Regulations, US and International Ports, International Logistics and US Dairy changes
Sales Support –
Gather and communicate service and quality opportunities.
Provide recommendations based on data source knowledge to Sales per country
Find solutions to improve MCT Sales goals and customer needs
Customer Support –
Review/Implement customer specific request on transportation related documentation in accordance with federal and corporate policy
Collect, comprehend, monitor, and analyze customer requirements to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery time and order fill rates.
Cultivate and maintain positive customer relationships. Work as a team with Sales to develop, maintain and grow customer accounts.
Provide assistance to customers to resolve questions, issues, inquiries and complaints.
Translate between Sales and customers to drive clear communication and understanding on both sides of the customer equation.
Develop and strengthen relationships with customers with consistent, quality communication.
Processes / Regulatory / Compliance –
Identify areas of process deficiency and make improvement recommendations that result in reduced waste, lower costs and/or increased service levels.
Comprehend product specs, code dates, shelf life, case weight calculation, etc.
Maintain and update customer SOP’s, country requirements SOP’s and internal procedures SOP’s
Cross-train to ensure accuracy of country, customs, customer, and document requirements
Provide solutions and communicate to the Sales Team to improve International Logistics outages
Ensure accuracy of input to the rate matrix for both International and OTR orders for the Export Sales Team
