Medical Data entry – Authorization Tech – Entry Level

We are a local medical billing practice seeking a candidate for data entry and insurance authorizations.

Job includes insurance appeals and authorizations, charge posting, and payment posting, as well as other office related tasks. The position will be responsible for answering patient billing questions, as well as taking payments over the phone. The right candidate will be friendly, dependable, flexible and have a willingness to take on new tasks. We offer a casual and friendly work environment. We are a small office centrally located in Livermore. This position will start as part time 24-30 hours with the potential to turn to 40 hours as business needs change.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Charge posting
• Patient demographics
• Insurance appeals
• Attain insurance authorizations, verify benefits, as directed.
• Perform various office functions to support the staff, including but not limited to scanning, faxing, copying, and mailing statements and claims.
• Screen and handle telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner.

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Well organized, ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple activities and complete assignments in a timely manner.
• Comfortable using computers/technology.
• Ability to handle confidential material.

OTHER SKILLS PREFERRED

• Medical office experience (front desk, scheduler, billing assistant)
• Experience with Google Docs or MS Excel

COMPENSATION

• Paid Holidays
• $18+ an hour, DOE
