DESCRIPTION
This
full-time temporary nursing instructor position reports to the Interim Executive Dean of Nursing.
The successful candidate
will teach courses from the Registered Nursing Program curriculum which may include nursing fundamentals, beginning and advanced med-surg
nursing, leadership, seminar, pharmacology, obstetric/pediatric nursing, and psychiatric nursing. At this time the
program has a special need for faculty with medical-surgical, geriatric, pediatric, and/or psychiatric/mental health nursing
expertise.
This is a full-time, temporary, non-tenured position. The work year consists of a
10 month contract (January – May, August-December). The annual teaching load is 510 lecture hours, 680 lab hours, or a combination of the
two. The annual work year includes 164 instructional days and eleven (11) professional development/flex days. This assignment may include
day, evening, and weekend classes, online instruction, as well as travel to, and instruction at, off-campus centers.

SALARY AND COMPENSATION AND
BENEFITS
Compensation is commensurate on education and experience. If an applicable Master’s
degree (see Preferred Qualifications below) is attained during employment, salary will be adjusted upward at the beginning of the next
fiscal year.
Annual salary offered at $65,473 -$93,931. Step seven (7) is the maximum step placement based on year
for year teaching experience or two years of FTE work experience in the field per step.
Direct instructional hours that
exceed contracted hours defined above may be payable at an overload rate ranging from $76.80-$88.91 per hour (DOE).
Doctoral Stipend: An additional $3,151 annually is available for a doctorate earned from an accredited institution.

Benefits: With no monthly premium contribution from
the faculty member, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes family medical, dental, vision, EAP benefits and employee life
insurance. Additional voluntary life insurance is available for employee purchase. Benefits are effective the first of the month following
hire date.
Paid Time Off: The successful candidate will earn ten
(10) days of sick leave per year.
Retirement: This position is eligible for CalSTRS Retirement.
Additional, voluntary 403(b) programs are available.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master’s in Nursing OR a Bachelor’s in Nursing AND a Master’s in Health Education or Health
Science, OR the equivalent. Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural ,disability, and ethnic
backgrounds of community college students.
Knowledge of:
Nursing research, evidence-based practice,
clinical simulation, online teaching, advanced physical assessment, medication calculations and administration, high-risk medical-surgical,
pediatric, and mental health disorders, lab interpretation, nursing leadership, clinical instruction, critical thinking, problem solving,
and decision making.
Ability to:
Effectively instruct
assigned courses using a variety of techniques, including online teaching with Canvas and Zoom and student training using high-fidelity
simulators; evaluate and develop curriculum and instructional materials; update course materials to reflect current nursing practice; assess
student academic progress; communicate effectively with students and hospital staff regarding student expectations, course requirements,
evaluation procedures and other program requirements; serve as a liaison with community health care facilities and staff; follow faculty
mandates of the CA Board of Registered Nursing; develop course schedules; stay current in the subject area through continued professional
development and active involvement in professional organizations and activities; evaluate faculty; maintain records; prepare reports; work
cooperatively and effectively with others; demonstrate respect for the rights and needs of students; communicate effectively both verbally
and in writing; work variable locations and hours.
