JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Accounts Payable Accountant is a member of the accounting team and is responsible for the centralized accounts payable process across the Menlo Equities organization, including funds, property-owning entities and management companies. This is a hands-on position that will require day to day processing of accounts payable. This position will work closely with property accounting, property management, corporate accounting teams and outside vendors. This position will also support the team with various treasury and tax related items.

The position requires a hands-on, proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented individual. Further, this position requires excellent Excel skills and experience processing large amounts of data while meeting tight deadlines.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Accounts Payable Processes:

• Track invoices and ensure the appropriate approvals are provided within the relevant workflow
• In certain instances, determine the appropriate coding and allocation of invoices to funds and entities
• Bill funds and entities for AP expense reimbursements
• Prepare invoice uploads and enter information into accounting software
• Reconcile open invoices with vendor statements
• Resolve questions from Menlo Equities team members pertaining to AP as they arise
• Perform month-end close activities, including but not limited to ensuring accurate and timely completion of accounts payable month-end closing process
• Keep track of payments and expenditures, purchase orders, invoices, statements, etc.
• Maintain historical records
• Responding to all vendor enquiries regarding financial payments
• Create and update vendor records
• Solicit and maintain current W-9 information for all active vendors
• Ensures that necessary information is maintained to ascertain which vendors are subject to 1099 reporting and generate 1099 forms
• Prepare intercompany account payables and account receivables
• Resolve discrepancies related to invoices
• Monitor and process employee expense reimbursements
• Reconcile company credit card statements

Check Runs:

• Processing incoming check requests
• Preparing and processing weekly payable check runs
• Compile required remittance information to be mailed with the checks
• Maintain spreadsheet for monitoring bank balances

Internal Controls:

• Maintain and ensure internal controls are operating effectively.
• Address various incoming queries and elevate/forward issues that require others in the organization to resolve

Other:

• Continuing to raise efficiency concerns with an eye to improve the payment process
• Provide support and assist the Treasury Director when necessary
• Assist in the quarterly distribution process
• Perform other duties as requested or as responsibilities dictate

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
• 2-4 years of AP experience in an institutional-quality private enterprise or publicly traded company.
• Some real estate experience is helpful, but not required
• Experience with Yardi Voyager 7s is preferred
• Strong computer skills (MS Excel and Word) required
• Acute attention to accuracy and detail
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must be a team player with a strong work ethic
• Problem solving skills are highly valued at the Firm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
