Overview
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Fiber Splicer will focus on the splicing and testing of fiber optic cable associated with telecommunication plant facilities. The Fiber Splicer must a have a comprehensive understanding of the telecommunications environment, but the ideal candidate must also demonstrate knowledge and abilities pertaining to all work related to fiber splicing and testing. The Fiber Splicer’s primary function is to deliver high quality splices and perform accurate, thorough, and industry standard fiber testing. The Fiber Splicer’s responsibilities will also include confirming accurate cable terminations, creating/maintaining splicing schematics, and jobsite control, among other duties.
The Fiber Splicer will maintain safe working conditions in accordance with all prevailing regulations and company policies. The Fiber Splicer will communicate regularly with project managers and/or supervisors to document all work progress and activities.
The Fiber Splicer must have an in-depth understanding of outside plant construction techniques. In addition, the Fiber Splicer must be able to anticipate and resolve issues related to fiber networking, routing, and network management. The candidate must be able to demonstrate experience, knowledge, and proficiency in both aerial and underground work.
