Job Description
The Behavioral Technician/Security Officer provides safety and security to patients, health care workers and the unit by responding to situations to deescalate crisis situations. Protects and maintains a secure environment by enforcing rules and regulations to provide for the safety of personnel, patients, visitors and the facet. Additionally The Technician functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team to assess the functional abilities, impairments, and needs of each patient and address these individually and through psycho-education groups. The Mental Health Technician/Security Health Officer leads daily educational groups focused on essential skills patients need to manager their illness as well as their social environment.
The Technician documents patient participation, progress and changes in condition, contributes to the formulation of individualized plans of treatment, and performs regular assessment of patient progress to ensure maximum therapeutic benefit. Assists in chart maintenance, environment of care, patient care and transportation as needed. Works under the direction of licensed nursing staff.
