Summary

Responsible for patient care outcomes through the coordinated delivery protocols for areas of responsibility. With guidance from the Transport Services Manager or Director, deploys priorities for clinical quality, service and Associate development and retention. Assists transport team members with the coordination of safely transporting assigned patients. Responsible for assuring the general upkeep of the physical facilities and patient care equipment. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Supervises Associates, providing on-site coaching, scheduling, education, and staff assignments, and conducts performance evaluation in collaboration with the Managers. Ensures continued readiness regarding accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Provides Practice Excellence through specialized patient assessment, care, evaluation and education to patients and families in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Promotes evidence-based practice by using research to develop, implement and evaluate process standards, such as plans of care, protocols and guidelines; Ensuring Leadership Excellence in clinical practice area.
• Promotes Cultural Excellence with recognition and appreciation for cultural, ethnic, and generational diversity.
• Performs chart reviews, ensuring appropriate patient care and continued focus on quality of care by team members and assists with emergencies, and supports staff in direct care activities.
• Collaborates with support departments to get services to patients or to the unit, in charge of supplies and logistics for assigned base and responsible for community outreach and public relations within base geographical area.
• Supports flow of information and communications including interdisciplinary information and communications from Leadership to Associates and from Associates to Leadership.
• Delegates tasks appropriately and within licensure requirements. Ensures assigned base schedule is complete and published and all team members implement a collaborative plan of care.

Physical Requirements

• The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
• Must have good balance and coordination.
• The physical requirements of this position are: medium work – exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
• The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
• Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
• Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
• Ability to react quickly to emergent situations.
