Manages the park’s daily risk exposure in the areas of fire protection/prevention, safety, first aid, workers’ compensation claims, and liability claims. Ensures compliance with all safety laws, rules, and OSHA and environmental regulations. Manages and supervises the work of subordinate staff. Develops and implements safety programs that are meant to prevent injuries, fires, or other workplace accidents. Schedules and oversees workplace inspections that identify and address potential safety hazards. Develops, delivers, and tracks participationin safety training programs educating employees on safe working practices, appropriate equipment operation, and emergency procedures. Investigates incidents or accidents, gathers and analyzes statistics and makes recommendation for improvements. Prepares and submits accident reports in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Promotes safety culture across the park by actively engagingin all departments training programs, leadership meetings, and daily briefings. Maintains an active safety committee with representatives from each department.
• Coordinates and conducts safety audits on all the company’s departments and work areas. Manages general liability to ensure guest service and cost efficiency. Communicates with corporate to resolve issues greater than $1,000 in value.
• Ensures proper and complete reporting for all safety incidents. Monitors reports, identifies trends in incidents and works with departments to correct any identified concerns. Manages and assists in resolving liability and workers’ compensation claims. Responds professionally and appropriately to complex guest claims while balancing protection of company assetswith the need for guest service recovery.
• Manages all aspects of the department’s seasonal staff to include hiring, training, development, supervising, coaching and scheduling. Oversees the day-to-day activities and overall operation of the Safety Department. Liaison with state in reporting incident and assisting with investigations.
• Assists in the development and implementation of park safety and departmental policies, procedures, standards and training programs. Refers to policies and procedures, technical manuals and diagrams, OSHA and NFPA codes, regulations, laws, hazardousmaterial handling guidelines, maps, ride operating manuals and manufacturing manuals, medical reference books, etc.
• Sets both short an long-term goals for the safety program and reports progress to all Associates. Provides regular safety updates, trainings, toolboxes, and implements various safety related policies and procedures to ensure guest and employee safety, and that all legal requirements are met. Inspects work areas, and work practices for compliance with established environmental health and safety rules.
• Provide direction and guidance to all direct reports. Evaluate performance and offer honest feedback and direction identify opportunities for associate to gain additional responsibilities and develop leadership skills. Recognize associates with potentialgrowth and learn their career goals.
• Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspect of employment.
• Prepares and administers annual departments operating budget, including adjustments as needed throughout the year to meet department specific goals. Work in cooperation with maintenance, rides, and aquatics on permits, applications and renewals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• First Aid Certification
• 2-4 years of experience
• Experience in Emergency Health Services, working knowledge of a First Aid Department, OSHA compliance.
