We are looking for a Vehicle Maintenance Technician to complete basic vehicle maintenance, tractor-trailer inspections, installation of computer equipment and/or software in all Mid-Am tractor-trailers, and preparing all new and refurbished trailers before placing them into service.

JOB DUTIES

• Ability to conduct tractor driving tests with all driver’s.
• Install computer equipment in tractors.
• Inspect all new and refurbished trailers before placing them into service.
• Install all Mid-Am required items on trailers before placing them into service. Items include trailer markings, number,decals, registration box in the “nose” of the trailer, and any other items as required on new and refurbished trailers.
• Perform regular inspections, routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
• Coordinate service work on road tractors with Penske.
• Monitor all trailers on consistent basis and coordinate for proper repairs.
• Fill out all required DOT paperwork.
• Must attend and participate in company safety meetings.
• Maintain an inventory of trailer parts for daily small repairs.
• Keep all onsite vehicles up to date with oil changes, tires, and other service work, including maintenance on the yard dog.
• Other duties as assigned by the Senior Operations Supervisor.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be familiar with DOT requirements and basic operating skills for delivery equipment.
• Must be able to read and write so the written instructions on the shipping papers can easily followed and corrections and needed information can be easily filled in.
• Must maintain a state license for inspections.
• Follow oral and written instructions effectively.
• Must be able to fill out paperwork required by DOT.

Experience: Knowledge of tractor, vehicle, and trailer maintenance is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must have a valid class A CDL operator’s license.
• Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours.
• Must pass DOT required physical and drug test.
