Senior Accountant Retirement Analyst Department: Human Resources Full-time Job Summary Assists the Retirement Plan Services (RPS) Director and Milwaukee County Pension Board in the effective management of the Employee Retirement System (ERS), with an emphasis on portfolio investment coordination, accounting policies and procedures, and fiscal operations. Job Responsibilities • Reconcile Annual Pension/Direct Budgets/Investment Trustee Statements – Coordinate the reconciliation of the pension system and investment portfolios to the General Ledger, the encoding of Trustee statements and reconciliation of checking accounts and cash disbursements to the pension roll on a monthly basis. • Prepare Pension Board Reports and Attend Board/Committee Meetings – After reconciliation, prepare fiscal Pension Board reports, budget to actual reports, and investment reports for the Milwaukee County Pension Board.
Present to the Pension Board at each Board meeting (at least 6 per year). Quarterly reporting of financial statements. • Maintain Fiscal Compliance – Ensure pension system fiscal policies are compliant with all Federal and State reporting requirements. Research and implement new fiscal procedures based on current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and IRS pension plan guidelines.
Collaborate with other department areas on policies, processes and questions. • Ability to properly or safely operate computers and general office equipment. • Ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 20 lbs. • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, License/Certification and Experience • Current residency within the State of Wisconsin required • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or closely related field required • Three (3) years or more work experience in Accounting, Tax Law or IRS Guidelines required • One (1) year or more work experience in a Supervisory or Management role required • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required • Advanced knowledge of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel required Note: This Original Examination is open to current residents of the State of Wisconsin. In accordance with Rule III section 11 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of a review of candidate materials, education and related experience.
