Job Description
Summary of Position:
Provides support to the account team and customer service support to our patient and clients.
Job Duties
- Verify eligibility for insurance coverage through various means
- Communicate with insurance companies to check status of claim, verify patient responsibility, appeal claims, request EOB’s, etc.
- Communicate with patients to resolve patient issues regarding their accounts
- Sorting and distributing incoming mail
- Filing and faxing confidential medical documents
- Handle correspondence, such as patient letters
- Schedule necessary follow-up on accounts
- Document all activity in system and update accounts according to department guidelines
- Maintain production and quality assurance standards
- Request medical records and other documentation from facilities
- Scanning documents into the teams share folder as well as the medical billing system
- Preparing and/or printing reports
- Help with special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
- Familiarity with basic office equipment, printer, phone, fax, copier, etc.
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must type at least 40 wpm
- Strong organizational skills
- Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred knowledge and understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Preferred understanding of health insurance billing and collections
