Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) seeks outstanding candidates for the position of Chief Information
Officer (CIO). The CIO leads the IT division in its delivery of technology solutions for the university’s faculty, staff and
students.
A leading public research university, Missouri S&T has embarked on an era of exciting transformational change and is
seeking an innovative technology leader to provide strategic leadership for the development and management of information resources and
technology. In the years ahead, the CIO will play a key role in enabling and accelerating Missouri S&T’s growth trajectories in
science and technology innovation, student enrollment, externally funded research, and national or international acclaim.

About the role: Chief Information Officer (CIO)
The
CIO provides overall leadership, stability, direction and oversight for Missouri S&T’s IT functions, including Campus Technology
Support, Research Support Services, IT Business Services, Information Security, and Enterprise Services and Infrastructure. Reporting to the
Chancellor and a member of the S&T Chancellor’s Leadership team, the CIO will also have a dual reporting line to the UM System
Vice President for Information Technology and maintain communication with both supervisors regarding all department enterprises, operations,
and initiatives. S&T is a recipient of several critical system-wide shared IT services including the ERP, student information system,
wide area networking and security. Additionally, S&T works collaboratively with the Columbia campus on research computing strategy and
services. The S&T CIO will advocate for the university’s needs and influence the direction of these shared services.
The Leadership Agenda
The CIO ensures the provision of technological infrastructure, programs and
solutions to the institution that will enable Missouri S&T to strive toward its three North Star goals of growing student
enrollment, advancing to an R1 Carnegie Classification, and growing the university’s rank and reputation. To support these aims, the
CIO, in collaboration with Missouri S&T and UM System stakeholders, will develop a compelling vision and a comprehensive information
technology strategic plan and funding model to guide University investments in information technology. Key priorities also include the

The CIO must be an
innovative, curious, strategic, and experienced information technology leader with demonstrated success leading a technology organization in
support of research and innovation. Experience in research university settings (or similar environments) is desirable, but not required.
