MKD Electric is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist. As part of this role the HR Generalist will perform within the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. Capabilities also include aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The HR Generalist will also help align an organization’s people strategy with its business strategy. They are not only an administrative expert and a people champion, but also a change agent and a strategic partner for the business. Together with leadership, the HR Generalist works on setting priorities, driving values, and delivering business results.
What you will do…
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
- May assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. (May include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, aptitude exams and certifications.)
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Utilizes employee recognition programs and orchestrates new hire orientation.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Nurture and develop key talent to ensure the talent pipeline is built out for succession planning.
- Advise leadership on organizational, people, and change-related issues
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you will need to succeed…
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in human resource generalist or business partner role
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and metrics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HCM system.
Preferred experience…
- SHRM/AIHRs certification a plus, but not required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus, but not required
