Our client, RPM, recently purchased a large manufacturing campus (120 acres) in Corsicana, TX and is looking to build additional manufacturing capacity on the site to increase domestic production for several of their high-growth, building product lines. They are seeking a cost accountant to help coordinate the costing efforts for this new manufacturing campus. Position: Cost Accountant
Location: Corsicana, Texas
Position Summary: The Cost Accountant role will be part of the cost team supporting the Plant Controller and reporting to the Plant Controller.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Responsible to ensure accounting activity recorded within the company’s records and financial statements are accurate and complete. Primary responsibilities include budgeting, product costing, recording, reporting, analyzing and communicating functional/business activity and financial results. This role is expected to adhere to the company’s accounting policy and practices and U. S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) which ensures financial statements accurately reflect results of operations and the financial position of the company. In addition, the Cost Accountant role will assist the functional/business management teams in financial analysis necessary for decision making.
· Records, monitors, reports and communicates function/business results. Ensures activity is accurate and complete. Ensures compliance to accounting standards.
· Complete product costing of materials, review for variances and correct/communicate results to business/plant management. Perform product inventory reviews, stock take observations and fixed assets reviews.
· Provide financial analysis to function/business management teams as needed for project studies, options analysis and productivity/benchmarking measurements. Integral to this role is establishing and maintaining an ongoing working relationship with other sub-processes and functions.
· Help facilitate the budget setting process and monthly/quarterly estimate process.
· Demonstrated technical accounting ability through greater than two years of directly applicable experience.
· Demonstrated initiative competency, as well as the ability to identify root causes of issues and discover/implement practical solutions.
· Open to and proposes new ideas to improve existing work processes.
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree
· Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience
· Minimum of 2-3 years of cost accounting experience
· Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a “Batch” or “Made to Order” process manufacturing environment
· Knowledge of “Absorption Costing”
· Strong understanding and knowledge of accounting/finance principles, such as GAAP, FASB, company accounting policy manual.
· Analytical skills are necessary to independently gather, assess and analyze business issues to actively participate in company/business decisions.
· Technology (computer) skills are essential to success such as SAP ERP knowledge, Microsoft Excel including Pivots Tables, Reporting tools.
· Effective interpersonal skills necessary to communicate analysis, results and business issues with management.
· A minimum requirement for this U. S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U. S. permanent residency (green card) process.
