What you’ll do day-to-day
Our Client is seeking a Senior Project Planner & Analyst to join our Space Programs Delivery team in Westminster, CO or Palo Alto/San Jose, CA. The Senior Project Planner & Analyst role reports into the Senior Director of Large Solutions and provides project controls, workforce capacity management, and portfolio analytics for a suite of initiatives within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). This role will support Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting and serve as an interface between technical, cost, schedule, and program management leads to ensure optimal and compliant integrated program management.
As our satellite systems span multiple areas of technical expertise, this role requires collaboration and clear communication, both written and verbal. The scope of deliverables includes but is not limited to the successful creation and management of integrated master schedules, EVMS reporting, creating and operating a workforce capacity process and model, and generating portfolio execution analytics and metrics. A successful candidate in this role is a detail-oriented contributor who supports a software organization through the entire project lifecycle, conceptualizes and delivers a workforce capacity management capability, and connects portfolio performance metrics to its stakeholders.
The role drives visibility into project performance and supports execution by working with and relying on experts to progress the work. The role collaborates closely with many stakeholder groups: solution managers, program and project managers, software and hardware engineering functional leads, architects, SMEs, development/test teams, solution/systems engineers, and Assembly/Integration & Test (AIT), and non-engineering teams as appropriate.
What you’ll do day-to-day
- Prepare EVMS baselines, maintain artifacts, prepare variance explanations and estimates at complete (EACs), prepare and update monthly reports related to cost/schedule performance, and analyze monthly performance.
- Support EVMS compliant program planning, execution, and performance measurement and reporting.
- Support compliance to internal business system procedures and processes in support of program requirements and government EVMS implementation guidelines.
- Implement EVMS process and systems improvements.
- Perform schedule risk assessments to identify and mitigate program cost and scheduling risks.
- Assist with preparation and evaluation of ROMs and proposals.
- Partner with program and project managers to build and maintain multiple integrated master schedules.
- Conceptualize, introduce, and operationalize a department-wide workforce capacity management capability. This includes the evaluation and selection of capacity management systems/tools, process design and implementation, people manager coaching and mobilization, training, define and maintain the capacity/staffing model, and the generation of relevant staffing reporting, metrics, and forecasts. Activities also include contributing to Enterprise budgeting / planning cycles, collaborating with finance personnel, and related activities as needed.
- Partner with various stakeholders to conceptualize, recommend, and produce metrics and analytics which provide transparency and visibility into project portfolio performance.
- Help leaders create a culture of ownership, accountability, and crisp execution towards goals
- In the short term, leverage modern internal and external communication tools such as Zoom & Slack to onboard and achieve your organization’s success from your home office. This expectations for this role’s onsite presence will be aligned to Maxar’s overall Return-to-Work policy.
- When conditions allow, be able to travel as necessary to ensure team cohesion & program success.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and be willing and able to obtain a USG Secret Clearance
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, finance, accounting, or a related field.
- 5+ years’ working experience, with at least 2 years’ experience in aerospace, telecommunications, or technology industries
- 5+ years of MS Project experience.
- 5+ years of experience in EVM (Earned Value Management) and reporting, especially in an Agile development organization.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio)
