Descriptions: Automotive Systems Safety Engineer

Experience:

• 5 or more years of experience in automotive product development
• 2 or more years of experience in application of ISO 26262 with a system rating of ASIL B, C or D
• Assessment of system and / or component design to requirements through DFMEA’s and Validation testing
• Assessment of safety requirements and allocations down to the software and hardware level

• Manage customer technical requirements through requirements tools
• Ability to make high level trade-offs to optimize system architecture
• Experience with FTA and FMEDA
• Ability to perform design analysis of system to assess performance to requirements
• Generate subsystem and component allocations to meet system level requirements
• Ability to be technical representative to customer for systems safety requirements
• Coordinate systems safety technical activities among subsystem and component groups to meet system requirements
• Track program technical safety deliveries to key milestones

• Ability to interface and communicate with suppliers

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Controls, or Computer Engineering is required
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering will be considered with the proper experience with electro-mechanical systems and ISO 26262, Master preferred
• Strong computer skill:
• Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word is required
• Strong MATLAB and Microsoft Excel skills are required, with VBA preferred

• Basic knowledge of controls, motors, Controllers, sensors is required
• Experience in system requirement development for both electrical hardware and software is preferred
• Knowledge of microcontroller architecture safety mechanisms is preferred
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 Safety Standards and requirements management tools is required
• Understanding of chassis sub-systems and the components is preferred
• Effective interpersonal skills with internal and external customers is required
• Excellent verbal and technical communication skills is required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
