The focus of Guglietta lab is understanding how dysregulation of intestinal immunity affects disease development locally and at distant sites using a wide array of high dimensional technologies and novel preclinical models.
This position will provide a unique opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic research team working to understand the mechanisms of colon cancer development especially in the early onset settings with the aim to develop new strategies for prevention and treatment.
The ideal postdoctoral researcher is expected to work with relative independence and responsibility.
The Guglietta Lab provides training opportunities so that the postdoctoral researcher can grow their leadership and management skills.
You, as the ideal postdoctoral researcher, must be respectful, curious and open to feedback; an excellent communicator (experienced in writing and publishing scientific papers and presenting scientific meetings); and you enjoy being the “go-to” person to help lab members.
Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in microbiology and microbiome research and with interests and previous experience in neuroimmunology. Expected skills include: ability to work with different in vivo models of human diseases. Experience with immunological methods is preferred but not essential.
As postdoctoral fellow you will be responsible for developing, implementing and test new methods on our available models and patient samples. You will be responsible for maintaining systems and structures that ensure the methods and results are reproducible.

Job Duties:
Essential duty (35%): Develop independent research projects in consultation with the PI. Individual will be responsible for the design and implementation of experiments relevant to the project.
Essential duty (35%): Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory records. Will be responsible for presenting results to PI in individual and group meetings. Individual will be trained directly by the PI at the beginning of the training period.
Essential duty (10%): Present work at local, national and/or international conferences. Will be responsible for drafting manuscripts for publication in decent scientific journals. Will work closely with PI to develop research grant proposals for the laboratory.
Essential duty (10%): Will assist with daily maintenance of laboratory, training of graduate students, and other laboratory personnel.
Essential duty (10%): individual will be sponsored by the PI to apply for postdoctoral fellowship awards funded by NIH, American Association of Immunology, and/or other funding agencies.
