Position Description: Health and Disability Fellowship
The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), a national organization representing the approximately 2,800 local health departments (LHDs) nationwide, has an immediate opening for two Health and Disability Fellows.
This is a paid fellowship slated to start in September 2020 and run through July 30th, 2021. The fellowship includes a stipend not to exceed $8,000 and travel expenses to at least one conference or meeting. ASL interpreter, captioning services, or other accommodations are available upon request.
The fellows will either be housed at the NACCHO headquarters in Washington, DC or may work remotely from their graduate school location.
Hours:
Flexible, approximately 10-15 hours a week during regular office hours (8:30 am – 5:00 pm).

The fellows will be responsible for supporting the Health and Disability project team members in meeting the following objectives: 1) Increasing the number of localities and/or states thoughtfully including people with disabilities into mainstream public health promotion activities and 2) Educating the public health workforce on the inclusion of people with disabilities into program activities and interventions.
As a part of the fellowship, the fellows will receive mentorship and guidance from NACCHO’s experienced health and disability staff. The fellows will:

Qualifications:
Graduate student (Masters or PhD students) in public health, health education, or related field preferred. Students currently in school and who recently completed school will be considered. Prefer students with background or interest in disability/disability studies. Students with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
