Job Summary

The Web Developer is responsible for independently and successfully writing, testing, documenting and maintaining software written in CFML (ColdFusion/Lucee) and MySQL under the direction and supervision of senior developers. This job is mostly back end work but could be considered full stack. Functionality in both the front and back end is a bonus!

This job also offers opportunities to learn and work with networking, security, AWS, and mobile applications. We will be implementing newer technologies such as React, Node.js, and TypeScript. This position can be fully remote for the well qualified candidate who has a dedicated, quiet workspace and who lives in Washington State, Oregon, Arizona, Virginia, Texas, or Kansas. This position can also be in office if the candidate desires.

It is essential that the successful candidate can learn ColdFusion and become productive in ColdFusion within 45 days of employment. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability to self-learn new programming languages quickly. A passion for software development is a major plus.

Essential Functions

• Write, test, debug, and maintain internal and external, complex, web-based software written in CFML (ColdFusion), and MySQL using Eclipse and GIT on an Ubuntu desktop, under the supervision of senior developers.

• Read, follow, and debug complex ColdFusion code in templates and classes, spanning multiple files in multiple locations, with multiple levels of inheritance.

• Manage and own projects of varying sizes and complexity, delivering on time and under budget.

• Work with Senior Web Developers on testing software using test scripts.

• Create and maintain end user and internal technical documentation.

• Handle requests for queries and reports using MySQL Workbench.

• Accurately estimate time on features and bug fixes.

• Adhere to department created developer standards,

• Design, implement, and maintain database schemas.
• Create useful and accurate documentation (ticket, software, systems).
• Willingness and ability to support Windows desktops from time to time.

• Participate in and contribute to team meetings.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

• Experience with one or more of the following languages: ColdFusion, PHP, python, or a web-based scripting language, preferably in a professional environment. Web development experience is a major plus.
• Demonstrated ability and desire to learn new programming languages quickly.

• Familiar with the concepts of OOP, particularly inheritance.

• Familiar with HTML, CSS, and JQuery.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and read complex code that uses classes and spans multiple files across multiple projects, often with multiple levels and using a complex structure.

• Desire and ability to continually learn and improve.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Demonstrated ability and desire to independently learn and progress in software engineering and/or web development. A passion for the technology field is a plus!

Desired Qualifications

• 1+ years of professional experience in web development using ColdFusion or PHP and MySQL.

• Experience using Eclipse and GIT.

• Experience with Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Servers.

• Experience with integrating and using complex, third party APIs.

• Experience with WebRTC.
• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and React or the desire and ability to learn these technologies.
• Experience with Python and Swift.
• Technical certifications.

Major Pluses

• Experience developing public facing web applications.

• Experience with network and web security.

• Experience with bash scripts.

• Amazon AWS/Elastic Beanstalk experience.

• Experience in web design and graphic design.
