The New Bedford Public Schools is seeking a dynamic theatre teacher to join our team of middle school arts educators.

This position includes teaching theatre classes to grades 6-8. Other job responsibilities may include after-school clubs which will be assigned based on teacher/student interest and will have additional compensation in the form of a stipend. A qualified applicant will: hold Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as an Academic: Teacher, Theatre: All Levels possess knowledge of secondary theatre education methods and the ability to navigate technology software and applications. have experience designing and implementing engaging lessons, units and assessments in that correlate to the MA Frameworks for Theatre have positive classroom management techniques, be responsive to student diversity, enjoy working in an urban setting have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with colleagues, administrators and parentsPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Plan and implement instruction to insure that all students meet and exceed Common Core Standards and State Frameworks2.Use of data to inform instruction, to track student progress and to track progress of self through self-evaluation and goal setting3.Deliver engaging, targeted instruction that meets MA DESE and Common Core Standards for level and subject taught4.Differentiate services and instruction to meet variety of student learning needs and strengths5.Maintain active communication with students families in support of their learning and to communicate with families consistently and regularly throughout the school year about their childrens academic and social progress6.Assess student performance using formal, summative, and portfolio assessments to drive instruction7.Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
