New Hanover County Hiring For Program Assistant- Nutrition at Wilmington, NC  Full Time

The New Hanover County Senior Resource Center is seeking a dynamic individual who will serve as Nutrition Program Assistant. This position assists in all areas of the Home Delivered Meals and Congregate nutrition programs. The SRC nutrition programs provide high quality nutritious meals to older persons aged 60+ in a congregate setting, meal pick up sites, and deliveries to homebound seniors. Additional nutrition services include outreach, social, education, and wellness programs.

Ideal candidates must have excellent customer service, communication and inter-personal skills to interact with various groups of people including older adults & caregivers; ability to work in a team setting, ability to work in a fast paced environment, ability to stand for long periods of time, ability to work in all weather conditions, excellent organization, excellent computer skills, the ability to problem solve and make critical decisions and above all else, an overwhelming desire to serve the citizens of our county.??

Essential Duties:

• Follows Federal and State Food Safety Codes, local Environmental Health regulations, Senior Center operating guidelines, and NHC Senior Resource Center Policies and Procedures, and Home and Community Care Block Grant policies are followed.
• Provides clean, friendly, and pleasant environment to all participants. Includes daily set up and break down of tables and chairs, serving line, and home delivered meals transporter bags.
• Assist with nutrition programs set up and clean up as well as packing meals and serving of meals at on site locations, off site locations, and drive thru locations.
• Deliver meals to homebound seniors in the community.
• Assist with Home Delivered Meals routing.
• Clean and sanitize all food serving and dining areas, maintaining required cleanliness standards for the kitchen and dining room space.
• Assists participants in making meal reservations.
• Registers eligible clients which includes: assessing eligibility; completing state-mandated forms; and conducting periodic reassessments.
• Maintains accurate records of meals received by each participant at the nutrition site, utilizing the Servtracker software program. Accurately completes turnaround documents monthly.
• Inspects and receives all food from caterer. Records food temperatures daily and maintains records.

Required Skills Include:

• Excellent communication skills
• Computer/technical skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, iPhone)
• Ability to learn ServTracker software
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Time management, organization, ability to multi-task and solve problems
• Must be able to lift 45 lbs. and stand/walk/twist/bend for more than an hour.
• Complete a ServSafe certification course within first month of employment.
