Role Summary:
The role of the Change & Communications Manager is to provide support for the Data Strategy, Governance and Enablement organization led by the New York Life Chief Data Officer to plan, perform and orchestrate actions that guide business areas to understand and manage the impacts of changes realized through implementation of the company-wide data strategy and interrelated strategic business initiatives.
The role will engage business stakeholders at all levels and be part of strategic project teams to understand the intent and desired business outcomes and provide support to drive change and communication methodology. This includes analysis of stakeholders and development of stakeholder management plans and change impact assessments. The role also includes the development of effective communications and training plans and content as necessary to enhance awareness and understanding of desired outcomes and changes to roles, processes, and solutions to realize the intended business results and ultimately increase adoption of the future state.
In addition, this role will support a data literacy program with the intent to broaden the awareness, understanding and advocacy of the company-wide data strategy. This includes designing innovative communication channels and content to enhance broad understanding of fundamental data management principles, decisions, actions and capabilities throughout data lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities:
Understand New York Life business strategy and the interdependencies to data strategy and execution of critical projects with strong data implications
Change and Communications Support
Serve as an integral member of the DSG&E Change Management team to support various programs and initiatives
Develop change and communications plans and orchestrate activities including but not limited to stakeholder analyses, change impact analyses, team roles and decision matrixes, general and specialized communications and training material
Develop and leverage leading and lagging (qualitative and quantitative) metrics to measure business preparedness, future state adoption and realization of business value/ROI.
Lead communication activities for the DSG&E team; collaborate with all levels of employees to develop and execute plans and deliverables
Data Literacy Support
Support the implementation of a company-wide Data Literacy program to broaden the awareness, understanding and advocacy of the company-wide data strategy and data capabilities
Partner with other related organizations (e.g., Corporate Communications) to develop novel approaches to leverage multiple channels and content to engender excitement and understanding of data management principles and capabilities
Monitor leading and lagging metrics to measure impact of the Data Literacy Program
Manage the Data@NYL intranet site to keep content relevant and engaging
Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Education: MBA, Master’s Degree; or equivalenet work experience
Previous Work Experience:
10+ years of relevant experience leading, planning and performing change and communication activities, preferably in the insurance or compliance-based industry
Change Management certification – Prosci highly preferred
Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and managing largescale organizational change initiatives – exhibit resilience and tenacity to keep stakeholders energized and committed to a journey throughout the change lifecycle, managing fatigue and sticking with the change to realize expected business benefits
Demonstrated experience designing, developing and implementing programs to communicate, promote and train workforces on complex topics in innovative and compelling ways
Proven track record of building communication and training programs for all levels of employees
Proved ability to successfully work with and support the CM and communication needs of executive leadership
Required Skills/Knowledge

Demonstrated ability to collaborate, communicate, build relationships, mentor and influence a community of professionals across lines of business and functional areas at all levels and diverse roles

Awareness of relevant and emerging change communication and training best practices and trends
Familiarity with data management concepts, principles, and processes
Familiarity with IT functions and services
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple simultaneous priorities
Ability to think end-to-end, connect moving parts, and anticipate needs
Ability to define and leverage metrics to drive performance and outcomes
Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
