Greater Binghamton Health Center is seeking FULL TIME Qualified candidates for the position of Adult Education TEACHER

One opening is available on Adult Inpatient Service for a Teacher. The successful candidate must be able to assist the treatment teams with fulfilling the educational needs of patients admitted to our adult units.

Job Duties/Expectations:

• Assess adult consumers’ completing an educational needs assessment and develop or assist with implementation of the school districts Individualized Education Plans for consumers 18-21.
• Complete assigned patient’s rehabilitation assessment by way of interviewing the patients and compiling information from the medical record and referral packet.
• Provide active treatment programming and education classes for assigned caseload based on identified patient needs, using psychiatric rehabilitation principles and technologies where appropriate.
• Coordinate active treatment activities and service delivery with other services providers based on patient needs and interests, Joint Commission and CMS guidelines for active treatment programming, and GBHC active treatment guidelines.
• Coordinate treatment planning and provision of treatment services for assigned caseload. Develop individual service plan reviews (ISPR) as continuation to initial master individual service plans that encompass patients’ progress towards their personal recovery goals and progress for identified treatment needs.
• Maintain weekly phone/email communication with school districts, teachers, CSE involved in patients’ educational plans. Provide education support for patients hospitalized to assist with getting their schoolwork completed and back to the school district.
• Maintain communication with the treatment teams, program manager, Rehabilitation Counselor assigned to patients’ team about their progress and educational needs or barriers.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include:

Possess the appropriate certification necessary for appointment.

Teacher 2: New York State provisional/initial/conditional initial certification in Special Education;

Teacher 3: New York State permanent/professional certification in Special Education;

Teacher 4: New York State permanent/professional certification in Special Education and two years of post-certification (conditional initial/provisional/initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in the same specialty.
