Position Summary: Manage a variety of human resources functions including increasingly complex employee relations and performance management issues; counsel department heads and employees on preventing and handling workplace issues; develop performance improvement plans, mediate disputes; consult with and refer employees to other University offices as required. Manage recruitment and appointment processes for non-exempt and exempt positions typically up to mid-level management; determine job qualifications; assist department heads with implementing affirmative searches, interview and recommend applicants; negotiate salaries. Administer job evaluation process; create new position descriptions and identify descriptions in need of updating; consult with department managers on job changes. Qualifications: Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Education:
Master’s Degree in human resources or related field.
Required Experience:
5+ years relevant professional-level experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience with human resources management including recruitment, compensation, employee relations, training and development, budget administration, and staff supervision.
Preferred Experience:
5+ years professional-level human resources experience in an academic related environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated organizational, negotiating, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing. Broad knowledge of human resources concepts, practices, legislation, and procedures (knowledge of current trends and evolving issues). Ability to develop and interpret policies and procedures, to interact effectively with individuals at all levels, and to facilitate decisions making. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of HRIS/HRMS applications and online recruitment systems.
Additional Information: In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $58,500.00 to USD $105,000.00.
