The Staff/Manager Industrial Designer will be the first hire of this kind in the organization and must be able to champion robust Industrial Design processes across the entire organization. This individual will have the opportunity to create a brand-new visual design language for a state-of-the-art robotic system. They must be able to lead cross-functional teams using Human Centered Design philosophies and evidence-driven research techniques to develop world-class medical robotic systems.
* Champion robust Industrial Design processes across the entire organization
* Leverage Human Centered Design (HCD) philosophies to advance care and meet the needs of physicians, staff, and patients by placing users at the center of the design process
* Utilize aesthetic mastery in product design to create semantic, usable, and emotionally impactful products.
* Be conversant in physical as well as digital products
* Mentor others in the organization in Industrial Design methods and best practices
* Work in a highly cross-functional organization to develop world class medical robotic systems
* Collaborate with engineering, product management, clinical engineering, and marketing across all phases of the product lifecycle from product discovery to product launch.
* Lead cross-functional teams to develop beautiful, brand appropriate, usable, and accessible products
* Translate broad needs statements from healthcare providers into meaningful & disruptive concepts, while balancing business demands, technical requirements, and preserving the brand
* Design, execute, and report on ethnographic research to drive product design decisions
* Lead evidence-driven user experience considerations, principles, requirements, and heuristics to inform early-stage concept and product development decisions
* Collect data through various research techniques including controlled experimentation, simulations, direct observations, workflow analysis, and persona development
* Analyze and characterize usability considerations, including physical, cognitive, social, and organizational aspects of human factors that influence performance while interacting with products
* Lead the development and implementation of a uniform Design Language Systems
* Create, implement, and maintain Design Language Systems that integrate software and hardware design to ensure a consistent comprehensive experience
* Be conversant in UI/UX to be able to direct the efforts of the UI design team
* Typical activities and deliverables include UX benchmarking, generative wireframing, information architecture, interaction design, composing compelling visual storyboards, develop mid to high fidelity UX prototypes, and conducting user testing
