REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES POSITION:

 Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting packages is desirable.

• The ability to make sound judgments; take initiative; be flexible; and detail-oriented.
• Knowledge and experience in preparing and controlling budgets and other management type functions.
• Must possess good communication skills (writing, spelling, listening, and speaking).
• Must have follow-through and able to complete tasks or ensure tasks assigned are completed on time and within budget.
• Ability to be a positive role model to staff and able to train staff in an accounting environment
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of research methods and procedures, program development and administration.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work with Tribal people in a sensitive and confidential manner
• Must be familiar with the Federal Administrative standards known as the Common rule, as it specifically applies to the Bureau of Indian Affairs and NAHASDA including OMB Circular A-87, Cost Principles and A-133, Audit Standards for Local Governments and indirect cost. 
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be good at organizing and time management.
• Is expected to have latitude and creativity.
• Have good judgment, planning skills and leadership traits.
• Maintain strict department security, confidentiality.

  REQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and throughout employment.
• Must pass criminal background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.
