Overview:
The Behavioral Medicine Unit at Norman Regional is a 20 bed, secured, adult in-patient unit with semi-private rooms. We provide quality and confidential mental health services to those experiencing emotional, psychological and substance abuse problems. Patients receive direct daily care from a board certified psychiatrist, registered nurses, licensed clinical social workers, certified recreational therapists and mental health technicians. We are looking for highly motivated individuals, with experience in the mental health field, who are able to deliver compassionate and confidential care. On the BMS unit, we strive to provide the best patient experience to this unique and often under-served population.

Responsibilities:
Assists adults and geriatric patients with activities of daily living, provides basic direct supervision to patients and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
High school education or equivalent.
Prefer undergraduate degree in psychology, social work or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Six (6) months experience in psychiatric facility or unit or 6 months related experience (nursing assistant in a nursing home or experience with geriatric patients.)
Completion of two (2) years of college education in a related field can be substituted for the experience.
(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).
CERTIFICATION
Basic Life support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
