North America Overland is a small shop that specializes in full restoration of 50s, 60s and 70s Land Rovers. For the past 12 years, we have built vehicles for customers all over the world.
Currently, we are looking for a full-time individual to join the NAO team. This individual will be joining a small staff and will be expected to perform rust repair and welding of steel and aluminum body panels. The aluminum body panels are Birmabright, an aluminum/magnesium alloy, which can be difficult to weld, so a thorough understanding of aluminum welding is important. Basic fabrication skills are required. A common task is cutting out rust or corrosion, making a small repair panel, welding it in and then smoothing the welds. No specific knowledge of Land Rovers is required. Previous vintage car welding experience is important.
Working hours are Monday- Thursday 7am-5:30 pm with a daily 30 min. lunch break.
Metal Working Skills:
- MIG welding steel— 18 gauge to 1/4”
- MIG welding aluminum (Birmabright)— 18 gauge and 16 gauge
- Cut out rust, make repair panels and weld in
- Weld in steel repair panels without altering measurements
- Weld in small repair panels to aluminum (Birmabright)
- General metal fabrication skills
- Skilled with use of cutting and grinding tools
- Follow lists
- Work efficiently
- Work independently
- Know names of parts and how to ID car parts
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 – $28.00 per hour
