DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

Reporting to the Administrative Officer III, this position is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the Human Resource office. Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to, the following:
Handling all leave of absences (LOA).
Using the BEACON system to administer all areas of time and leave management.
Entering, maintaining, and insuring accuracy of all employees’ time and personnel actions in the Integrated HR-Payroll System. Correcting time entries on an as needed basis. Troubleshooting leave or pay problems which pertain to negative leave balances or payroll discrepancies.
Providing information to employees on policies surrounding time and leave management.
Providing information to employees on all benefits related to employment.
Working with employees in preparation of retirement.
Preparing employment hiring packages.
Completing DCI’s (criminal background checks), handling inquiries both orally and in written form, and completing daily, weekly and monthly reports
Comprehending and abiding by policies, procedures and directives, both written and verbal. Individual must be familiar with and/or have the ability to interpret Family Medical Leave (FML) and Family Illness Leave (FIL) policies.
Performing clerical functions to include logging, tracking and compiling various statistical information and reports.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is GN06. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Harnett Correctional Institution:
Harnett Correctional Institution is located in Lillington, North Carolina and houses up to 988 male offenders in a medium custody facility.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
Experience in the Integrated HR-Payroll System formally known as BEACON or similar Human Resource Information System (HRIS)
Experience using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience
