Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.Mission of the Department of Insurance:To promote a stable insurance market through unbiased regulation and to protect the lives and property of every citizen in all 100 counties while fostering superior, user-friendly service, courtesy, and respect.Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:The primary purpose of the Human Resources Office is to provide human resources services to the Department of Insurance in the areas of HR policies and practices, employee relations and discipline, recruitment and salary administration, organization and position management, training and staff development, performance management, benefits and orientation.Primary Purpose of the Position:The Network Administrator/Analyst I is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the LAN which services the Department. Duties include network administration (creation, deletion, modification of accounts, backups and restorations), network resource distribution and management, equipment installation, maintenance and repair. As a Network Analyst I, the position also requires understanding of Azure Cloud, how the DOI on-prem network interacts and works with the DOI Azure network. An understanding of the hybrid environment is a must. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Thorough knowledge of the proper procedures, operation, capabilities and limitations of Local Area Network operating systems, LAN servers and support hardware, routers, hubs, protocols, bridges, wireless bridges, gateways, wiring plants, microcomputers, microcomputer operating systems, microcomputer-based software, microcomputer peripheral equipment, Azure cloud concepts and abilities, hybrid infrastructure setup, as well as design and implementation skills for any proposed projects. Extensive knowledge of LAN concepts and implementation techniques, with strong emphasis on Microsoft Server Operations Systems and Azure cloud. Ability to organize and manage projects and the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Skills to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent assignments while under significant time pressure.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers and clients.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate degree in computer science, or a related technical field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of networking related experience; or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of networking related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Education and ExperienceGraduation from a four-year college or university with nine semester hours in computer programming and four years of progressive experience in programming and applications analysis; or graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in mathematics, computer science or information systems management and three years of progressive experience in programming and applications analysis; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Special QualificationsAt least three years of experience in Local Area Network management. Microsoft Server administration experience or training would be very helpful. Microsoft certified status is desirable but not required.
