Basic Function: Reporting to the Vice
President of Academic Affairs and Student Learning (VPAASL), the Division Chairperson serves on the Academic Leadership Team. In addition to
teaching the equivalent of 3 credit hours per semester in a health science or STEM discipline, the Chair manages and provides leadership to
the programs, faculty, and staff of the division and shares in the general administrative responsibilities of the College. The Chair assists
in improving teaching, assessment outcomes, and developing skills. The Chair represents the department in relationships with administrative
officers, with other departments, and with the community. The Chair promotes cooperation within and between the College divisions in support
of the College mission, supports College initiatives, and encourages departmental faculty to be supportive of institutional programs and
offerings.
The Division Chair is expected to articulate the goals of the Division, to articulate the Division’s actions or
request in pursuit of these aims, and to maintain a climate that supports creativity and innovation. The Division Chair has the
responsibility to inform the Division of the views and actions of the VPAASL and other administrators that might affect the
Division.
Salary and Benefits: Salary based on education and experience. Fringe
benefits of Blue Cross/Blue Shield major medical health insurance, eye care, dental, and life and disability insurance. Retirement benefits
as provided by Social Security and IPERS or TIAA.
Required Qualifications: Master’s
degree with a minimum of 5 years teaching at a community college. A minimum of two years in college leadership role(s) or upper level
management.Physical requirements include ability to move about the campus between buildings and classrooms, excellent verbal and
communication skills, ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately, visual acuity to view a computer terminal,
ability to use appropriate judgement and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations.

following responsibilities:
