SUMMARY
The Human Resources Assistant executes HR transactions and provides HR operations and business process support across all the Office of the Chancellor’s human resources activities, including but not limited to position management, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and compliance. This position provides vital customer service to the division’s managers and employees, answering inquiries and directing to resources.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Acting as the primary point of contact when onboarding new hires, including new hire communications and I9s
Serving as a knowledgeable resource for hiring managers, guiding them through divisional hiring and onboarding practices
Providing excellent customer service by responding to inquiries from staff and managers as appropriate, directing employees to the appropriate HR Business Partner or university HR contact as needed
Off-boarding transactions and communications
Executing transactions in Workday
Maintaining personnel files and records
Assisting with keeping unit staffing budgets up to date
Providing event and logistical support with training and engagement activities
Retrieving, organizing, and compiling data as requested; routinely auditing data for accuracy; running reports as needed
Assisting with administrative tasks as needed
A valuable member of the Office of the Chancellor HR team, the ideal candidate is organized, agile, and a collaborative team-player. They must have exceptional attention to detail and be able to juggle multiple competing priorities, clearly and professionally communicate with all levels of the organization, and maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, communications, or related field of study strongly preferred
1-2 years of related professional work experience
Meticulous attention to detail and follow-through; perform tasks with high degree of accuracy and efficiency
Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to successfully manage competing priorities
Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization with high levels of customer service
High degree of maturity, professionalism, and discretion at all times
Strong team-orientation and flexible approach to work
Ability to learn new technology and systems quickly and apply them to daily tasks
Must be able to perform successfully in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
