Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is looking for a Manager, Programs Level 3 to manage the Mission Robotics Vehicle (MRV) Program of our Satellite Servicing (SatServ) Operating Unit. SatServ’s primary customer is SpaceLogistics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Northrop Grumman that provides cooperative space logistics and in-orbit satellite servicing to geosynchronous satellite operators using its fleet of commercial servicing vehicles—the Mission Extension Vehicle, the Mission Robotic Vehicle, and the Mission Extension Pods. This position is based out of Dulles, Virginia.
The MRV is SpaceLogistics’ next-generation on-orbit servicing vehicle. Scheduled for launch in 2024 the MRV leverages the heritage Rendezvous Proximity Operations and Docking (RPOD) system of the MEV and incorporates a robotic arm payload – developed and integrated by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory and provided by the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency – in place of the MEV’s docking system. The sophisticated robotics of the MRV will expand the benefits the MEV currently offers to our clients to include detailed robotic inspection, augmentation, relocation, repair, active debris removal, and docking with non-standard client spacecraft interfaces.
The primary objective will be the delivery of all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and creating customer intimacy to support value creation strategies and actions. The individual will lead a cross-functional organization aligned to common program performance goals.
Program Managers are responsible for leading all phases of the program life cycle from inception (proposal development) through startup, execution, and completion (contract closeout). Primary responsibilities are the management of cost, schedule, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems and include, but are not limited to:
