OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Reviews the electronic medical record (EPF) and gathers information for completion of the record using a prescribed set of criteria. The duties of this position require the exercise of courtesy and professionalism when dealing with HIS internal and external customers.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Analyzes Electronic Patient Folder medical records for physician completion in EPF analysis queues, as indicated, following hospital guidelines established by regulatory agencies such as JCAHO. Ensures compliance of medical staff rules, regulations and by-laws.
2. Identifies areas deficient in meeting defined criteria, and refers incomplete medical records to appropriate physician for completion in EPF.
3. Re-analyzes EPF medical records after physician completion in EPF analysis queues. Updates HPF accordingly.
4. Assists physicians with completion of EPF records by answering questions and following up on related issues and by providing training.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

1. Three (3) years experience as a Health Record Analyst
2. Three (3) years computer experience, including data entry, preferably HBOC Star experience with demonstrated proficiency in Windows environment.
3. Able to communicate effectively with medical staff.
4. Three (3) years customer service experience

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

1. RHIT
2. Five (5) years experience as a Health Record Analyst
3. One (1) year experience with EPF imaging
4. One (1) year physician training

License/Certification Requirements: No

Work Hours: 8a-4:30p
