Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide basic level assistance and ongoing support to district-level and school-based staff in the following areas: installation and maintenance of audio/visual communication hardware and software; production of live broadcasts and audio/visual materials; shooting and editing audio/visual productions. Materials produced serve purposes including, but not necessarily limited to, distance learning, staff development, public relations, and community information. Position provides support to district level and school-based staff. Employees in this classification function with limited independence and latitude in judgment concerning methods, materials, and priority of tasks. Performs related work as directed.
Special Note: The incumbent is considered to be “essential personnel” subject to being held over or called back to a district work location or alternate site at all times.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Respond to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
Assist with the production of live school board meetings and workshops broadcast on cable television and streamed on the Internet. Monitor audio levels, check streaming quality, prepare graphics for utilization in productions, and perform related tasks to ensure high quality operations.
Support TV studio productions. Act as floor person by relaying messages from the director and producer, position lights, connect microphones, adjust sets, and operate teleprompter.
Help with field productions. Load equipment van and travel on location; set up and operate cameras, tripods, lights, microphones, and related production equipment.
Provide school staff with basic instruction and support of video production equipment and software (e.g., demonstrate camera operations, connect microphone). Escalate to a higher level of support as needed.
Respond to and prioritize non-urgent requests for assistance via telephone, email, and work orders. Track and report on progress of work requests.
Perform basic level non-linear video editing, encoding digital files, exporting in common video formats, and performing media duplication.
Provide assistance with the installation of new and renovated television studios. Complete basic software upgrades.
Perform software imaging of computers used in TV Production for schools to achieve district consistency and performance standards.
Troubleshoot and perform remote diagnosis of basic to intermediate classroom technical problems. If needed, provide routine on-site maintenance of district and school-based TV studio equipment such as video editing stations, cameras, and audio mixers.
Follow assigned checklists and timelines related to school installations and upgrades of TV studios and video equipment.
Deliver and set up audio-visual equipment at various district locations and special venues (schools, hotels, conventions, seminars, etc.). Ensure proper connectivity.
Attend project meetings and regular team meetings to gather information required to perform functions.
May need to respond to emergency situations, with prior management approval, to assist with district activities on a rare occasion (i.e., after hours and/or weekends).
Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attend training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
Responsible for timely and accurate information they maintain as part of their job responsibilities.

May make minor repairs to audio, video, and computer equipment.
May assist with inventory audits and tracking.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years of related experience in the field, demonstrating ability to safely and effectively operate audio/video equipment and knowledge of video production protocols and procedures; or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions. Vocational/technical certification in video production may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience. Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and maintain the ability to drive a district vehicle as required by the department. The incumbent is considered to be “essential personnel” subject to being held over or called back to a district work location or alternate site at all times. The following is preferred: familiarity with Apple and Black Magic Design hardware/software and experience in a public or educational environment.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of video and audio production equipment, i.e., cameras, projectors, and duplicating devices.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, design, and advisory data and information.
Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; calculate decimals and percentages.
Functional Reasoning: Requires ability to apply principles of rational systems. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form. Ability to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
Physical Ability: Some tasks may involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate depths.
Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed with some potential for exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as machinery and electrical currents when setting up and operating production and broadcast equipment.
