This position reports to a Project Management Leader in Otsuka’s Marketing Operations organization. Marketing Operations provides operational support and project management for the commercial organization, including Brand Teams and other key Commercial Functions.
The individual selected for this position will be primarily responsible for providing operational support to commercial teams. This position will provide direct support for planning and executing priority initiatives such as brand planning, governance presentation preparation, field team meeting preparation, as well as day to day brand operations. This individual will have responsibility for portions of multiple initiatives simultaneously, commonly including project and process management, material development, and meeting facilitation.
This role includes working cross-functionally with most major functional areas including: Brand Teams, Field Teams, Business Analytics/ Market Research, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Sales Training, Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Promotional Compliance, and others. This position also requires coordination with Otsuka’s alliance partners when applicable by project.
The Manager, Marketing Operations will play a crucial role in supporting in-market brand activities with potential to grow along with product portfolios.
The right candidate for this position will not only have strong project management skills, but also the ability to work on complicated issues, determine the right methodology per situation, and generally add value to commercial teams beyond basic operations. Examples include effective communication, managing without authority, anticipating challenges, problem solving, and networking across functions.
Key Job Responsibilities
Commercial Project Management
Priority Commercial Initiatives:
Own portions of priority projects for the commercial organization
Determine appropriate project management methodology and tools
Drive portions of projects across functions
Facilitate decision-making, timely issue resolution
Manage project materials and maintain structured process
Additional Operational Support:
Governance/ Major Meeting Materials:
Partner with Brand Team and support functions to contribute to Leadership presentations
Gather/ synthesize relevant content and ensure follow ups to achieve established deadlines
Brand Planning:
Support commercial teams through the annual process
Manage select deliverables
Help drive timelines to gain alignment and meet milestones
Provide support for building, refining, and gaining approval for budget
Field Team Meeting Support
Support planning and execution in preparation for major Sales Meetings
Support material creation/ refinement as necessary
Coordination/ Alignment with Alliance Counterparts as needed
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, Education, and Experience
Required:
BA/BS degree
Experience supporting commercial teams
Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and major functional areas
Expertise in independently managing portions of large projects with multiple cross-functional workstreams
Results-driven with a high sense of urgency and accountability: ability to meet business objectives, deliverables, and timely completion of initiatives with a cross-functional team
High standards for accuracy and clarity in written and verbal communication
Strong interpersonal, collaboration & communication skills
Strong planning, organizational, and prioritization skills- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks to achieve established deadlines
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to function effectively under conditions of uncertainty and ambiguity, and ability to navigate competing demands
Ability to effectively utilize project management tools and software
Advanced PowerPoint skills
Minimum 3 years of pharmaceutical industry and/or marketing operations experience
Strong capability as an adaptive learner
Preferred:
Strategic planning experience within sales and marketing
Pharmaceutical industry and/or marketing operations experience
Experience creating senior leadership presentations
Knowledge of working across strategic alliances
Experience managing significant portions of a pharmaceutical launch a plus
Strong Excel, Microsoft Project skills
Consulting experience a plus
