The Outdoor Industry Association is the leading trade association for the outdoor industry and the title sponsor of Outdoor Retailer. OIA unites and serves over 600 manufacturer, supplier, sales representative and retailer members through its focus on trade and recreation policy, sustainable business innovation and outdoor participation. OIA is a 501(c)6, nonprofit trade association. OIA also established and sponsors the Outdoor Foundation, a 501(c)3, nonprofit, with a mission centered on engaging American youth in active, outdoor lifestyles and nature-based education and activities.
About the Position
Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) seeks a contract Human Resources Generalist for 30 hours per week. The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role does not have any direct reports or supervisory responsibilities. The HR Generalist position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Position Responsibilities
· Administer HR programs and policies to create an efficient, diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
· Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
· Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
· Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
· Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
· Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
· Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
· Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
· Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
· Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
· Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist
· Bachelors degree
Preferred Education and Experience
· Passionate about the outdoor industry a plus
· HR certification a plus (SHRM, PHR, etc.)

Job Details and Compensation
· This position is a contract, remote position that is open to remote delivery anywhere within the United States
· In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate compensation range for this role is $25-$40 per hour depending on experience.
· The pay ranges listed above are not guarantees of compensation, as final offer amount may be determined by multiple factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location, and may vary from amounts listed.
