Patrols, and enforces applicable ordinances, rules and regulations in government parking areas; responds to disturbances and maintains order in city offices, buildings and surrounding areas; participates in motor pool activities; and performs other related duties as required.
Current Vacancy:
There are two (2) vacancies with the Department of Facility Maintenance, Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division. Work location is at the Civic Center Parking Structure; the position is also assigned to service the Joint Traffic Management Center. The position requires wearing a uniform and a badge.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of work experience involving public contact.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
1. Valid registration as a Guard with the State of Hawaii Board of Private Detectives and Guards (i.e., possession of a valid State of Hawaii Guard license), at time of application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a special police commission prior to completion of probation. During the probationary period, selectees shall be fingerprinted, photographed, and subject to a background investigation by the Honolulu Police Department.
The following are some of the requirements for a special police commission:
1. U.S. Citizen;
2. 21 years of age or older;
3. Any person convicted of a felony, or a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, or of any criminal assault shall not be eligible for a special police commission.

EMPLOYMENT SUITABILITY:
To determine the selectee’s employment suitability for this position, the Department of Human Resources will review criminal convictions, dismissals from employment, and separations from military service under other than honorable convictions.
FINGERPRINTING REQUIREMENT:
This position will be assigned to service the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC). Any employee with unescorted access to secured areas and equipment within the JTMC requires a fingerprint-based criminal history record check. Therefore, the selectee will be required to be fingerprinted as part of their employment suitability review. The Department of Human Resources will review fingerprint-based state and national criminal history record information from the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
