We are looking for a self-motivated, reliable, and skilled individual to take on the role of Parks and Open Space Worker I/II. You will join a fast-paced, dynamic team environment, providing a variety of patrol and maintenance-related duties within the Community Service Department. This position provides critical services such as informing the public about City land and trail use regulations, as well as ensuring safe and efficient access for the public and staff. The Essentials
Parks and Open Space Worker I
– One year of experience requiring frequent public contact, customer service, and the interpretation of rules and regulations.
– Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.
– Valid California Class C driver’s license.
Parks and Open Space Worker II
– One year of experience preforming duties equivalent to the Parks and Open Space Worker I in the City of Mountain View.
– Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.
– Valid California Class C driver’s license.
Bonus Points:
– Experience in the protection and/or operation of a park, forest, public recreation area or environmentally sensitive area is highly desirable.
– Experience in landscape maintenance and/or minor construction repairs or builds is highly desirable.
What You’ll Do:
– Patrol and monitor an assigned area to ensure safe and proper use of City lands and facilities and deter crime and misuse of City lands and facilities by maintaining a highly visible prescence.
– Observe situations and report suspicious criminal activity or hazardous conditions to proper authority.
– Greet and engage the public and provide information, direction, and assitance in a variety of situations.
– Inform and educate the public about City ordinances, codes, and regulations; issue verbal warnings.
– Provide assistance at special functions and events.
– Assist with maintenance needs within the open spaces and trails.
