The Arcadia Library and Museum Services Department is looking for a Library Clerk to support the department by performing various library and United States Passport service functions which range from assisting patrons with passport services to setting appointments, collecting fees, taking digital photographs, and various other related duties.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, customer service-oriented with great interpersonal skills and the ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-pace environment.
Experience:
One year of customer service experience involving public contact. Experience working in a library is desirable.
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. College level coursework in library sciences, business, public administration, or a related field is desirable.
License or Certification:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a United States Passport Agent Certificate. If the applicant does not possess Certification at the time of hire, they will be required to obtain within two weeks of hire.
Possession of a valid California Class “C” driver’s license.
Special Requirements:
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 lbs. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written information and for driving a vehicle. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service.

The Selection Process:
All applications will be reviewed and evaluated. Those candidates who are determined to be best qualified based upon the information presented on the application materials will be invited to continue in the selection process which may include a qualifying written or performance evaluation and will include an interview weighted 100%. The City reserves the right to limit the number of interviews conducted. Candidates will be notified via e-mail or telephone if they qualify to move to the next step in the selection process. The interview score will determine ranking on the eligibility list and will remain in effect for one year.
Pre-employment background and medical examinations are additional requirements for hire. Failure on any part of the selection process will result in removal from the recruitment process.
