Salary Range: $25.53 – $34.47 hourly
Job Summary:
The PC Specialist provides setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance for personal computer hardware, Microsoft Windows 10 operating system, desktop application software, desktop printers, and various other pieces of desktop hardware.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
• Minimum one year of experience with hands on support of Intel-based personal computers.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer services in helping customers with a wide range of computer issues both in person and over the phone.
• Microsoft Windows 10 experience troubleshooting OS, hardware and peripheral devices.
• Experience supporting desktop applications.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Windows based personal computers in a Microsoft Windows Active Directory.
• Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
• Must be able to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical customers, verbally and in writing, and to make presentations to individuals and groups.
• Highly motivated and detail oriented.
• Ability to work independently and reliably.
• Ability to communicate effectively to non-technical staff and customers.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Conference room AV knowledge and experience desired.
• Associate’s degree or Certificate Program completion desired.
Essential Functions:
• Setup, maintain, and troubleshoot personal computer hardware, operating system, and desktop application software.
• Provide technical support to staff from multiple agencies in a one-on-one basis both onsite and via telephone “Help Desk” environment.
• Install and maintain computer related devices.
• Setup, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software.
• Assist users in software/hardware evaluation.
• Assist other IT staff in resolution of work problems.
• Communicate orally using a telephone as well as in a face-to-face setting.
• Accurately enter information into a computer.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
• Duties include extended periods of sitting at a computer station with frequent visits to other office locations.
• Will be required to work in other City office and locations and may require the ability to frequently travel between city office buildings.
• Occasional overtime, nights and/or weekends may be required.
• Availability of a personal vehicle is required.
• After hours emergency calls and/or questions may occur on an infrequent basis.
• Heavy employee contact in person and by telephone.
• Work is performed in a typical MIS office environment which requires normal safety precautions working around computers and/or low level of electricity.
• Work may be performed with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to bend at waist and kneel.
• Must be able to lift, push and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Communication skills and hearing sufficient to convey information verbally or in writing, in person and on the phone.
• Vision sufficient to read computer monitors, keyboards, reference books, and other written documents.
• Verbal communication skills enough to convey information to the employees via telephone and in person.
• Manual dexterity enough to lift, carry, install and connect all components required for computer operations.
