The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed healthcare decisions. Position Summary
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering a Fall Internship to a qualified candidate who will support the Engagement, Research Synthesis and New Technology team. This paid internship is a part-time, temporary employment opportunity averaging 20 – 30 hours per week for an undergrad or postgraduate student. PCORI does not provide housing for out-of-town residents. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US and located in the US. Pay Range and Employment Status:Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits. Current master’s level and above students will be paid $20.00 per hour. The DIGITAL, Data & Technology & Infrastructure Solutions department is seeking an intern who will have the opportunity to:Participate in a project that evaluates emerging health care interventions using horizon scanning and reviewing reportsGain exposure to data around PCORI’s Health Care Horizon Scanning System (HCHSS) products namely the Horizon Scanning Database, Emerging Health Care Innovation Briefs, and the High Potential Disruption ReportBuild skills in data analysis, creation of tables/graphs, and summarizing survey resultsIncumbent(s) in this position may be required to perform other duties and special assignments not specifically stated above.Statements outlined in this section are designated as essential job functions in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.Required SkillsRequired Skills The DIGITAL, Data & Technology & Infrastructure Solutions team is seeking an intern that will meet the following requirements:Has a strong understanding of research and study design, including qualitative and quantitative analysisHealth research experience is a plusExperience with MS OfficeDetail orientedExcellent analytic skills and ability to synthesize and translate complicated material into clear and simple languagePersonally motivated to support PCORI’s mission and goals.Required ExperienceRequired Experience Ideal candidates will be pursuing their undergraduate or postgraduate education.
