Duties
INNOVATION & SOLUTIONS: Designs, develops, and implements major custom applications for the University including planning, analysis, design, data modeling, coding, implementation, testing, training, documentation, and maintenance. Studies feasibility of new project requests to guide development operations.
COMMUNICATION & RELATIONSHIPS: Represents Pepperdine and IT in a professional manner when collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Develops and maintains strong partnerships with campus personnel and departments, as well as with external vendors and service providers, to assure current and future operation success.
TRAINING & SUPPORT: Assists University faculty/staff/students with application related problems. Provides supplemental database administration functions to support the software applications. Provides supplemental server administration functions to support the software applications.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Estimates time required for tasks and projects. Reports status of current projects on a regular basis to leadership and stakeholders.
RESEARCH & ANALYSIS: Conducts needs analysis with constituents to identify opportunities for application improvements or new projects. Reviews application support requests (in-person, email, support ticket, etc.) to assist in root cause analysis and identify solutions and enhancements to improve user experience. Evaluates design/development trends, new/emerging technologies, and other application solutions for consideration within IT or the University.
LEADERSHIP: Provides assistance and guidance, through mentorship, for other developers, student workers and interns in the Department in order to support University development.
ADMINISTRATION: Reviews and submits regular paperwork and processes, such as status reports, bi-weekly or monthly timesheets, assessments for mid-year and annual reviews, and other routine IT and University practices.
COLLABORATION As needed or required: Provides backup support and assistance to other team members. Collaborates with co-workers and university colleagues on departmental, division-wide, and institutional projects. Shares process information and makes informal recommendations on how to improve processes and overall job execution within team/department.
COMMITTEES As needed or required: Serves on various committees within the Information Technology division. Participates in external university committees.
DEVELOPMENT As needed or required: Attends trainings, vendor presentations, user group meetings, conferences and seminars. Engages regularly in individual professional development related activities to remain current with industry technology trends and work processes.
BEYOND JOB DUTIES As needed or required: Volunteers to undertake tasks that stretch the employee’s capabilities. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in programming/systems or computer science, specialized training, certification, or equivalent work experience. Requires 3-5 years of web programming/systems analysis experience; advanced programming techniques and application design; and knowledge of distributed systems architecture, middleware, or object oriented analysis and design.
Preferred: Demonstrated experience developing Microsoft. Net web applications in C#, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; SQL Server Administration; Windows Server Administration experience; Mobile Development Experience, Full Stack Developer experience.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.
Candidates with significant experience may be considered for a Senior or Lead Developer title with a corresponding salary.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
