Pet Food Express Hiring for Transportation and Logistics Manager Job at Oakland, CA Full Time

Pet Food Express is seeking an experienced yet innovative Transportation and Logistics Manager to assist in overseeing the planning, organization, and implantation of systems designed to receive, store and supply merchandise or products to our stores. The Transportation and Logistics Manager will work out of our Corporate Distribution Center servicing 64 retail stores with more to come. Reporting to the Distribution Center Manager, the Transportation and Logistics Manager is responsible for the day to day shipping and Vendor pick up scheduling as well as all aspects of fleet and driver management.

What you’ll do:

• Manage drivers, lead and demonstrate safe work behaviors
• Plan/schedule and route incoming/outgoing deliveries according to internal/external customer requests while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company rules
• Schedule/coordinate service on all transportation equipment
• Adjust and Maintain all transportation service records
• Perform drivers’ safety evaluation ride checks, observation of drivers, and prescribe necessary retraining
• Verify documentation compliance with all in and outbound and shipments; investigate and file documentation for all accidents and incidents, report facility related issues, and lend support as required
• Ensure accuracy and on time delivery goals are achieved with safety being a priority; maintain and track driver productivity with various company programs, including Microsoft Excel.
• Develop processes that make the supply chain more efficient

• Responsible for the movement of product to and from the Distribution Center
• Audit documentation for discrepancies within PO’s and work with the Distribution Manager in resolving these discrepancies
• Strong understanding of the BIT compliance process
• Fostering a strong partnership with merchants, buyers, and store operations to provide excellent supply chain support
• Ensure good coordination between all work units
• Verify payroll accuracy while monitoring and controlling overtime
• Take steps to increase accuracy and safety
• Oversee and verify that all services and records of all transportation equipment
• Communication to stores regarding delivery schedules, addressing issues and provide excellent support to store staff.
• Back-up for delivery driver in their absence.
• Other duties as required

What you’ll need:

• Minimum 5 years of Transportations and Logistics experience and 3 years minimum in a Logistics leadership role
• Proven leadership abilities, with strong motivational and team-building skills.
• Strong and effective communication skills, including writing and documentation, with a strong desire and ability to build strong relationship with individuals as well as a team
• Strong servant leadership background
• Excellent organizational, prioritizing, and time management expertise
• A strong logical, quantitative, and analytical orientation
• Ability to demonstrate a dedication to quality and accuracy
• The ability to balance details, quick decision-making, and quality control while maintaining a strong leadership presence
• A proven record of personal accountability, honest and thorough communication (verbal and written) and a strong drive to complete all work accurately and on time
• A history of commitment to personal growth, teamwork, development, company loyalty, and the desire to teach the same to others
• Advanced computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Understanding of inventory control and DOT requirements
• College Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
• Current Class A Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Current DOT Card
• Able to work Monday – Friday, and some weekends as needed
• Ability to pass a DOT background check upon hire
