Role Description
The National Pharmacy Director (NPD) will serve as the primary Headquarter level interface with national and regional community pharmacy chains, associations, and retail based healthcare clinics for the U.S. Vaccines Business Unit. The NPD will function as the Headquarter point of contact for the vaccines team’s interaction with the target entities to secure Pfizer’s brand contracts, patient adherence and identification initiatives, and innovative solutions that address current market dynamics and needs. In addition, they will coordinate HQ driven field-based education of field leadership and store level immunizers both at a customer level but also within the aligned Pharmacy Vaccines Team. NPDs will support and help grow appropriate use of Pfizer Vaccines and the overall immunization rates of customers by identifying shared objectives, aligning resources and deploying innovative solutions to achieve targeted clinical and business results. The National Pharmacy Director will need to cultivate strong C-suite and executive relationships across their customers and possess in depth knowledge of their business as well as a strong knowledge of the overall healthcare market.
The National Pharmacy Director will work collaboratively with brand marketing, access, PCA, field teams, legal and trade to enable commercial efforts. The colleague will work in collaboration with the integrated National Pharmacy Business Manager (NPBM) and Pharmacy Account Specialist (PAS) team specific to their assigned community pharmacy chain to develop field based implementation plans for specific Headquarter driven initiatives, contracts and communicate learnings across the Pharmacy Vaccines Team to increase effectiveness. This includes responsibility for coordinating with the Pharmacy Vaccine Operationalization Specialist (name TBD) through the development of business collaborations focused on current and future problem resolution, market dynamics and strategic business objectives. The role requires strong business acumen, buy and bill product experience, well developed negotiation skills, and a strong understanding of contracting in the context of complex organizations. The role will report to the National Pharmacy Director – Team Lead.

Responsibilities

• Develop business plans that position the Pfizer Vaccines portfolio to achieve revenue and business objectives by leading the development and growth of large contracting entity assigned business partnerships
• Responsible for optimizing the patient experience through mutually beneficial B2B interactions, minimizing gaps in care specific to immunizations, coordinating immunization collaboration with assigned community pharmacy chains and various other community immunizers, and proactively strategizing with internal stakeholders as it relates to market trends and opportunities.
• Form collaborative relationships with decision-makers to conduct needs assessments and deliver compliant solutions that will increase access and the appropriate use of Pfizer vaccines.
• Execute the Pfizer U.S. Vaccines contracting strategy by developing and maintaining relationships as well as negotiating and monitoring the performance of contracts with national and regional community pharmacy chains as required.
• Work with the Trade team to deliver vaccine product contracts to customers who have alternate choices in the marketplace. Provide customer perspective and input regarding contracting strategy
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to achieve targeted business and contracting objectives for targeted customers with Pfizer Customer Service, PCA, Field Teams, Trade, and Marketing
• Implement and execute programs across customer segments and present approved materials to deliver value added messaging in a compelling manner; developing and executing programs that are strategic in nature and may have near, mid, and long-term market and financial impact
• Stay current and strategically align with the changing healthcare environment specifically impacting the community pharmacy channel
• Collect and share learnings and leading practices customer interactions across the US Vaccines teams and other Pfizer internal stakeholders to increase the education and effectiveness of working with this customer segment
• Generate compliant and innovative approaches to contracting pull through in partnership with Marketing, Pharmacy Vaccines Team, Vaccine Account Managers, Vaccine Account Directors and the Vaccines Sales team.
• Meet or exceed product performance objectives for assigned portfolio of vaccines.
• Adhere to and model all Pfizer Values and Compliance principles

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree required / Advanced degree preferred
• 8-10 years of successful experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or with a national community pharmacy chain
• Direct sales management experience preferred
• Advanced negotiation experience and contracting experience required
• Experience with large customers with demonstrated track record of assessing account needs and bringing relevant cross-functional appropriate resources to drive performance
• Ability and proven success working in ambiguous environments to drive results
• Adept at creating a vision for the future and working to create pathways to achieve that vision
• National account management experience preferred
• Community pharmacy experience preferred
• Launch experience preferred
• Experience in developing mutually beneficial customer relationships with C-Suite and VP level customers
• Experience with vaccine or buy and bill products preferred
• Demonstrated track record of strong business acumen, problem solving, strategic thinking, and project management skills, as well as excellent planning and prioritization skills
• Functional/Technical Skills and proficiency in Excel for analyzing and interpreting sales data
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time based on business requirements, to include customer meetings and internal Pfizer meetings
