Its Centrally located in the East Bay having immediate access to 880 and 680, the two main arteries of the Bay Area. The facility resides on a 26-acre parcel with 119,000 sq. ft. fully enclosed. In 1996 the facility went through a $1,300,000 seismic renovation upgrading the facility to current earthquake standards. The Fremont Materials Facility directly serves the geographical area from Buellton the most southern point of Central Coast Region, the entire Bay Area Region and extending into the San Joaquin Valley to Manteca. This service area consists of 50 PGE service locations consisting of Division yards and General Construction yards encompassing 20,000 sq. miles. We at Fremont also provide the other PG&E material facilities with material that has been designated as PG&E’s system source of supply. Pacific Gas and Electric Company is an AA/EEO employer that actively pursues and hires a diverse workforce.Position SummaryThis is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.Material Handlers are responsible for the management of materials for gas, electric, telecommunications, grid and transmission clients. They receive stock, pick and distribute electrical and gas utility materials, such as transformers, cable, fittings and meters. Duties include lifting and moving materials by equipment and by hand. Material Handlers also participate in annual inventory and periodic cycle counts at the facility.Job ResponsibilitiesMaintain an absolute commitment to safety and work safely at all timesReceive, pick, stock and deliver material by hand or with use of equipmentResponsible for in-storage maintenance, material searches and return to stockPerform duties using various Material Handling equipment including forklifts, stock pickers and other necessary equipment and toolsUse computer to complete administrative tasksStack and un-stack materials while working at various heightsWork in environments including inclement weather and emergency conditionsQualificationsMinimum:Must be at least 18 years of ageMust possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experienceMust possess a valid California Drivers LicenseAbility to work in all types of weather extremesAbility to drive safely in all weather and road conditionsAbility to work at varying level of heightsAbility to work flexible schedules, extended hours, nights, weekends, and/or overtime (scheduled or ad hoc)Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds a minimum of one time a dayDesired:Demonstrated experience using Enhanced Warehouse Management (EWM) softwarePreference given to applicants who reside within 30 milesDemonstrated experience using SAP3+ year work experience in warehouse or shipping environmentClass A drivers licenseCertified to operate a forkliftPrevious/current PG&E experiencePrevious/current Hiring Hall experienceMilitary experienceGraduate or currently enrolled in an approved PowerPathway ProgramPre-Employment TestingPG&E Employees: You must have qualified on all prerequisite tests prior to submitting an application; and all secondary tests prior to interviewing.
